Recorded and Produced at Albert Road and Grange Studios January to October 2006.

CD History - The first Pepper Set rehearsal was on Tuesday 28th Sept 1999.

  • The idea emerged of recording a CD of original songs that the band regularly play at gigs. Most of the songs were written by Tony, when he was younger.
  • A couple of years ago Tony bought a Korg 16-track digital studio, a great machine, but a bit complicated. Peter took control of the instruction manual and became the default recording engineer and producer. The recording started in January 2006.
  • All the tracks were recorded live with a guide vocal.
  • The drums were bounced down and mixed onto two tracks to free up tracks.
  • A few of the original parts were tidied up. Overdubs of a few keyboard, wind parts and a second guitar were then recorded.
  • A Condenser Microphone was kindly leant by Bret for the recording of the vocal parts.
  • Additional harmonious support from Corinne Shippey (tracks 3, 4 & 9) and Pierre White (9) was added.
  • By the end of summer 2006 Peter had produced a first rough mix.
  • There then followed another mix, and a third for some of the tracks, before mastering in October.
  • Several ideas for the cover artwork were tried, Tony came up with the cartoon characters and the Moon. Peter made a first version.
  • Russ Davey then kindly spent a lot of time re-doing the cover and adding his own touches, and then went on to design this website.

The band feel sure that you will appreciate and enjoy the Night Time CD, performed and recorded by four of the south east of England’s most experienced musicians.
